Memory of Lines

Three somen noodle-making machines once used on Teshima are installed and woven together with red thread to create a shared space. The machines were shown to the artist by local residents as “precious things we no longer need but cannot throw away.” By threading together the voices of the people and the objects they have preserved, the work weaves memories of daily life and the land inherited on Teshima into a form that can be passed on to the future.
