The building that houses Shima Kitchen was once an empty village house, but during the 2010 Setouchi Triennale art festival, the architect Abe Ryo designed and reformed the building into a place where people can meet and connect through art and food.
Many of the mothers on Teshima prepare and bring lunches made from the island’s abundant local ingredients as well as seasonal drinks and desserts. Every month fun events are held on the open terrace outside.
